I think of Susan often, and did not want her gone from our lives without some sort of recognition.

I'm not sure exactly how I met Susan. It was my first year (10th. grade ) at Valley, moving from Ohio to live here for the winters. I think it was at Judy Richlings house at a get together. We became fast friends.

Susan was a twin and her Sister died at birth. Her father died in a plane crash while serving in the Marines. Susan was just 10 years old at the time and an only child. Her mother was young and did a good job of supporting Susan and taking care of her.

Susan was generous, sweet, kind, had a great sense of humor and a good friend. I don't remember ever having a cross word with her in the three years we shared in school. She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Cluff who was a year older and went to Santa Ana High. They lived in San Diego for a short while and then moved to Oregon. They had two sons, Jay and Jeff.  My husband, daughter and I  visited them in Oregon in 1983. We eventually lost track of one another. I believe she and Dennis divorced. Susan died of a brain tumor at the age of 58. A brain tumor also took her mother's life at the age of 58

I hope Susan's life was happier in the end of her years than the beginning. She so deserved to have the best.

My friend Susan.   Jeannie Powell Wright.

Jeannie, what a beautiful tribute to Susan, thank you. It brought tears to my eyes as I could just see her, somewhere she knows, too.
